Welcome to 2010. I’ve been elected the new president of Gamelines Archery Club. I’ve been a past president of the club as well as having held other officer positions over the past 30 years… yes I’ve been a member since the late 1970’s.

I’d like to thank Rob Tio and Leo Armenta for their service to Gamelines.. we appreciate all that you’ve done. Mickey Martin would like to step down as the Treasurer and we are seeking a person to step into his shoes. Please let me know if you are interested. Contact Mickey for details on what he does as the Treasurer.

Several major things happened at the annual meeting. We’ve added Ren Leitner as the 2nd V.P. and brought in several new board members who will be helping us with membership support  and developing new programs.

Gamelines actually lost money in 2009… over $2000. It left us with the lowest balance that we have ever had to begin operations in the new fiscal year that started in January 2010.

The Board proposed and the membership approved taking several actions to help remedy the financial situation. We approved a small dues increase across all membership categories of $20.00 annually. We also increased the initiation fee and non-working membership premium. Current non-working members will still pay $50. for 2010 but that fee will increase to $75. in 2011. New members joining Gamelines in 2010 will pay a $75. Initiation fee. Gamelines members hadn’t seen a dues raise in over five years and we had to take action due to increased expenses and costs.

Our primary expenses are the range lease which is almost $5000. per year. The next two largest expenses are insurance costs and range maintenance and investments… 3D targets, etc. The range is our most important asset and the main reason for our existence so expect that we will continue keeping the range in great shape and improving on target quality. We have added and will continue to add more Rinehart style 3D targets.

Camp Paul Hummel, from whom we lease the property has indicated  that they want to continue the leasing relationship. Our lease expires at the end of 2011. The Camp Trustees appear willing to continue the lease for another ten years and we will be negotiating with them regarding those details over the next year.

We also plan on tuning up several of the shooting locations  and re-signing the entire range boundaries this year.  We anticipate bringing back a cliff shot and re-structuring the pit blinds to make those locations more realistic.

Gamelines has experienced a membership decline over the last year or two that we also need to address. Currently our membership totals about 100 members. We need your help here.           (Next Page)

Membership

We are asking every single Gamelines member to try and recruit a new member this year. Word of mouth is the best way to reach new recruits who will help fortify our finances giving us then flexibility to have better targets and a better range overall.

Please make a sincere effort this year, right way, this Spring to promote Gamelines to your bowhunter friends and acquaintances. Gamelines has had over 150 members in our history and that number doesn’t tax our range or resources. Again please do your part to help with this effort… it’s IMPORTANT!

Invitation Shoots We have instituted two Invitational weekends to help recruit new members.  Non members can come up to the range and for a $10. fee per person and signing the liability release they can shoot the range. Fee applicable to membership if purchased the same day. These are not competitions. We just have range supervision and membership recruitment.  More info will follow. Expect more frequent communications from Gamelines in the future.

*Make sure that we have your email. More and more info including this newsletter will be made available via email. This is a more efficient way of doing club business and saves the club money.

Gamelines Survey
We are preparing a membership survey to assess your thoughts and ideas related to the range. Your input is wanted. The survey will be available on the web site.
Log on in mid February to take advantage of this opportunity to make yourself heard… we value your opinions.

  Colorado Bowhunters Association News
The CBA just finished negotiating a new five year big game season structure with the Colorado Division of Wildlife and the Colorado Wildlife Commission. There have been some changes in the preference point system you need to make yourself aware of. The CBA spent literally hundreds of hours on this effort. Those efforts resulted in our ability to maintain a 30 day season in August and September and temper the growth of rifle and alternative weapons hunting in the early season time period.

If you are not a CBA member.. YOU SHOULD BE. There is no excuse not to support your state bowhunting organization. The CBA is all volunteers. They represent your bowhunting interests in front of the CDOW and CWC and they have a lobbyist watching sportsmen’s and wildlife issues at the Capitol. They deserve your support.

Go to www.coloradobowhunting.org  to get more info and JOIN TODAY! See our Calendar for upcoming CBA events.

  Winter League
The winter league is going on at  NO LIMITS ARCHERY. This is a large, quality , indoor archery range and pro shop with regular 2D targets and 3Ds out to forty yards. Wednesday nights at 7 PM .
4613 Monaco St.
in Denver .   303.270.0185

Picnic
We are seeking two or more persons to volunteer  to set up and coordinate the picnic this year. We had fun last year and would like to do it again but we need some extra help to pull it off. Early July is a good time frame. Contact Bob Radocy to volunteer.

GAMELINES ARCHERY CLUB

-        DEDICATED TO ARCHERY & BOWHUNTING

WE STRESS SAFETY, EDUCATION, GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP, FRIENDSHIP AND FAMILY FUN!

www.gamelinesarchery.com                                                               January 2010

Greetings Fellow Archers!

This is the announcement for the club’s business meeting for 2010. This is an annual meeting and only happens once a year. This club was founded on the principal that the membership decides how the club operates. The club has a Board of Directors, but their responsibility is the day-to-day management.  It is the membership who has final say in the yearly plan of our organization. Our club is governed by a set of by-laws which define how the club operates, how the leadership is elected, the limits of the leadership, how club funds are budgeted and therefore used, the amount of dues and work party fees, and many other things.  The only time, during the course of the year, that leaders are elected and the bylaws are amended is at the annual business meeting. This year’s meeting will be held on January 23rd at 1:00 PM at No Limits Archery, located at 4613 Monaco Street in Denver (see map below).

If anyone has any business or would like to nominate someone to be on the Board, please contact a board member so we can put it on the meeting agenda. Mickey is stepping down so the club is in need of a Treasurer. One individual has expressed interest in running for president. If there is anyone else that would like to serve on the board, you need to come to this meeting and get involved.

Winter League
Gamelines is hosting a winter 3D archery league at No Limits Archery. Blow the dust off your bow and get ready to have some fun. This is an open shoot so bring your buddies!  The league will run on Wednesday nights beginning January 13th.  It’s a 7:00 PM start time. The main purpose of the league is to provide an opportunity for club members to meet up once a week and have fun shooting.  We hope to see a lot of you out there!
